Ellen Doss is a fine artist working primarily in both painting and photography for over 15 years. Her creative practice aims to alchemize the darkness and traumas in life into expressions of light and unity through connection to nature. Her goal as an artist is to illuminate the essential dichotomies and eternal energies that drive the forces of nature through time and space, reminding us of both our power and fragility. Ellen also explores the visceral and physical expressions of the human experience and interconnection through figure painting and drawing. Her intention is to encourage deeper appreciation for our planetary home and expand collective perspective on the relationship between Earth and the human experience.

Ellen graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in May 2025 earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Painting and a minor in Art History. She attended a study abroad program in Italy during the summer of 2024 where she studied art and art history in Rome and Venice. She also worked for the university in both an academic preceptorship and a studio assistantship. Ellen was the recipient of the 2025 Painting Area Award from UNC Charlotte’s Department of Art and Art History.

Ellen currently lives and works in Charlotte, North Carolina, not far from her hometown, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Since earning her BFA, she has completed numerous freelance projects, developed new bodies of art, provided live painting and interactive art entertainment at multiple events, attended workshops in New York led by visionary artists Alex and Allyson Grey, and appeared as a guest speaker in 2026 on We’re All Insane Podcast.
